    Accessibility Statement Statement.

How accessible PropertyGoose is, where it falls short, and how to get help.

    Last updated: 3 August 2026

    Our commitment

PropertyGoose is used by people applying for somewhere to live. An applicant who cannot use the referencing form cannot get the property — so accessibility here is not a nicety, it affects whether someone gets a home.

We aim to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. We also have obligations under the Equality Act 2010 to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people.

    What we do

    • Text and background colours are checked for contrast, and information is never conveyed by colour alone.
    • The applicant form works with a keyboard alone, with visible focus.
    • Form fields carry proper labels, and errors are described in words rather than only a red outline.
    • The site is responsive and usable at high zoom and on a phone — most applicants complete referencing on one.
    • Documents can be uploaded by photo, which is often easier than scanning.
    • Our tenant referencing help guide is available in 15 languages, because a language barrier is an accessibility barrier.

Known limitations — and what we do about each

We would rather name a limitation and tell you the alternative than claim full compliance. Each of these has a working route available today:

    • Generated PDFs are not fully tagged for screen readers. Reference reports and tenancy agreements are produced as visual documents. What we do: ask us and we will supply the same content in an accessible format — plain text, large print or read aloud over the phone — at no cost and without needing a reason.
    • Identity verification requires photographing a document and your face. This is difficult for some people. What we do: contact us and a member of our team will complete this step with you, including by phone or video, or arrange an alternative way to verify your identity.
    • We have not yet completed an independent accessibility audit. What we do: we test against WCAG 2.2 AA ourselves, we fix reported barriers as a priority rather than queueing them, and a formal external audit is planned.

No one should be blocked from applying for a home because of how our software is built. If something stops you, tell us and we will get it done another way while we fix it.

If you need help or an adjustment

If any part of PropertyGoose is difficult to use, tell us — we will help you complete what you need to do and fix the underlying problem where we can.

We aim to respond within 2 working days. Tell us what you were trying to do and what got in the way — you do not need to know the technical cause.

    Enforcement

If you are unhappy with how we respond, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
